Leloch, not such a bad guy
Lelouch Lamperouge, from the series Code Geass, is one of the best antiheroes i have encountered. The series begins with Lelouch, Britanian royalty, getting caught up with a CC, a divine being with the ability to grant someone Geass (which takes many forms from mind control [Lelouch] to rewriting memories [The King of Britania, Charles]), and the Japanese rebels. Through masterful battlefield strategy Lelouch leads the rebels to their first victory under the guise of being a man named Zero. From this point Lelouch's movement gains power and eventually leads to several awesome battles in near-future Tokyo. This lands Zero as the champion of the people and the man who will eventually overthrow the King of Britania. Lelouch has an ulterior motive; he wants to create a world without suffering for his disabled sister Nunnaly, who is the only person Lelouch really cares about. Eventually Lelouch finds out that his father, King Charles, had the same plan for the world; however Charles' plan involved killing God, so Lelouch was none too pleased. Lelouch proceeds to kill his father and usurp the throne. As soon as he ascends to Kingship, Lelouch begins an iron rein of terror which leads to another uprising centered around his sister Nunnaly. At this point the viewer begins to hate Lelouch because he is showing absolutely no regard for anyone but himself. This all changes during Lelouch's assassination. Lelouch set him self up to be killed by his childhood friend Suzaku. Lelouch allowed himself to die so that he would become a scapegoat for humanity and allow his kinder, more innocent sister to lead the world into a new era.
